VING TSUN KUNG FU
If you practice Ving Tsun you will be taught to think positively and move positively. Anything that is negative does not actually belong in Ving Tsun.
Ving Tsun techniques can be applied while moving forward, backward, or sideways.
A comprehensive positive forward-thinking approach was taken for the initial design of Ving Tsun, and most techniques are, indeed, in a forward direction.
KUNG FU
The term "Kung-Fu" means a lot. "Kung" comes from the inner self of a person. It indicates the heavy training and the strength that this training delivers. "Fu" refers to the person, especially the person who trains hard. The whole concept "Kung-Fu" mainly refers to the training. It means diligent training or hard work, the only way to master the Kung-Fu techniques to be able to use it in a stress situation!
SIMPEL
Ving Tsun does not look spectacular and there is no show element. In principle, Ving Tsun may only be used if it is necessary. The Ving Tsun has no complicated attitudes and is quite simple. It has no complicated techniques and it does not have similar choreography as other Kung-Fu systems.
The whole system consists of 3 basic forms. It is a system based on mathematical and physical principles, such as the principle that the shortest path between two points is formed by a straight line. You try to always take the shortest route in a combat situation!
CENTRE LINE
In Ving Tsun, much emphasis is placed on taking and maintaining the so-called "centreline", the imaginary line that connects your sternum with that of an opponent. An opponent will not be able to effectively carry out his attack if you continue to manage this line properly. This is one of the reasons that in Ving Tsun one elbow is kept well in the middle (close to the centreline). In this way you have good protection against knocks to the head and body and you also have the advantage that the strength of the punches increases with the arms in this position.
ATTACK or DEFENSE?
In the Ving Tsun it is very important to always move forward. If you are attacked, you will want to withdraw instinctively. When you give in to your instinct, you play into your attacker’s hands, because you are only concerned with your defence, and therefore go backwards. The attacker can thus forget his defence and continue to focus exclusively on his attack.
Defending in itself is seen as a negative activity in Ving Tsun, which does not mean that there are no defensive movements, but these are combined as much as possible with an attacking movement!
Well viewed many of the offensive movements, for example the punches also have a defensive effect. (and therefore vice versa)
The old saying that "the best defence is offense" is certainly true for Ving Tsun!
THINK POSITVE
If you practice Ving Tsun you will be taught to think positively and move positively. Anything that is negative does not really belong in Ving Tsun.
Ving Tsun techniques can be applied while moving forward, backward, or sideways. A comprehensive positive approach was taken for the initial design of Ving Tsun, and most techniques are, indeed, advanced.
MOVE POSITIVE = FORWARD
Fending off, for example, is seen as negative. Defence techniques are difficult to use against fast agile opponents that change angle of attack. The execution of defence techniques also prevents you from moving forwards quickly when it’s needed, that is why they are applied as little as possible.
The Ving Tsun practitioner moves in as much as possible in a combat situation. He puts his opponent under pressure, so that he does not have the space to implement his techniques. The attacker is forced to withdraw and the Ving Tsun practitioner follows him.
Moving forward when you are attacked is one of the most important strategic concepts of Ving Tsun and many techniques are based on this.
If you are attacked, move forward if there is an opening and try to get in from the middle. (centreline)
Wait for a chance if there is no opening! And never let your opponent hit first!
